The office of the Welsh
Language Commissioner is looking forward to
welcoming Aled Roberts to the role of Welsh Language Commissioner,
following the First
Minister’s announcment today.
Aled will
replace the current Commissioner, Meri Huws, when the term of her appointment
ends on 31 March 2019.
The Welsh Language Commissioner, Meri
Huws, said:
“I welcome
the Government’s announcement today that Aled Roberts has been appointed to the
role. My colleagues and I are looking forward to
engaging with him to ensure a smooth
transition when I hand over the reins in March.
“The Welsh Language Commissioner’s job is
exciting and varied, and it is a privilege to work to increase people’s rights
to use the Welsh language. I wish Aled the very best as he prepares to undertake the
role.”
