Policy and legislation developments can have a significant impact on
efforts to increase the number of Welsh speakers and on how people are able to
use the language in their everyday lives. Subjects like education, economic
development, housing and planning, and health and care are all key to the
future of the language and the wellbeing of its speakers.
If the Welsh language is not given proper consideration early in the
process of developing policies in these subject matters, there is a risk that
the developments could have a negative impact on the language or that there are
lost opportunities to effect positively on its future.
To make sure we influence effectively, we take proactive steps in the
subject matters strategically important for the Welsh language. We do this by
working with partners and policy experts, developing briefing notes and sharing
opinion and evidence with policy makers.
