Census 2011 Analysis

The 2011 Census showed a fall in the number of people in Wales who can speak Welsh in comparison to the 2001 Census, with the number of communities where 70% or higher of the population speak Welsh falling from 53 to 39.
Data Unit Wales was commissioned to provide analysis of the 2011 Census data and previous censuses that would enhance the Welsh Language Commissioner’s understanding as well as wider society of the situation of the Welsh language today.

You can download the Commissioner’s charts, tables and maps of the Census results by downloading this PowerPoint file.
